Prime Minister Narendra Modi reaches Kyiv from Poland for a one-day visit to Ukraine.

This is the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Ukraine since its independence from the Soviet Union in 1991.

PM Modi, Ukraine President Zelenskyy sign agreements on agriculture, medicine, cultural cooperation.

In a ‘friendly’ and ‘historic’ meeting, PMModi tells Ukrainian President VolodymyrZelenskyy that he is personally ready to mediate peace in Ukraine. PM Modi emphasizes the need for dialogue and diplomacy, expressing India’s support for Ukraine’s territorial integrity.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says, “With regards to the citizens of India that were tricked to participate in the combat operations – PM Modi started with that, he said that he condemns it and he will make everything possible for the citizens of India not to be fighting in the lines of the Russian Army. I perfectly understand him…As for the Peace Summit, I truly believe that the second Peace Summit has to take place. It would be good if it would be held in one of the Global South Countries…I perfectly support this and told this to PM Modi that we could have the Global Peace Summit in India. It’s a big country, it’s a great democracy – the largest…”

On a question by ANI on the conflict between Israel and Gaza, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says, “It is a very sensitive moment…We cannot compare our war, the war of Russia against Ukraine, I wouldn’t say that there is a significant religious discrepancies between our countries. There is a lot of different religions and I guess that the same religions are available in Russia. So, it is not a war that has anything to do with religious discrepancies. This is a war of one person, that’s it…In our case, we have a person who is gradually doing all the steps…This is the war of this man, he had this idea. We can’t compare it with a war, with a crisis in the MiddleEast…”
