Government of West Bengal is planning to increase the number of industrial parks dedicated to MSMEs in the state.
Currently there are 58 industrial parks in the state dedicated to MSMEs.
Another 12 industrial parks are being developed; 10 are in the application stage, while another 40 are being developed under the State Approved Industrial Park (SAIP) scheme.
Some of these industrial parks are being developed in land areas greater than 5 acres across the North 24 PGS district, especially targeting the manufacturing of textiles and equipment for the defence sector.
The total proposal for the quantum of investment was Rs. 4100 crore, likely to increase to Rs. 8500 crore and provide employment to 1.50 lakh people.
