Apple might introduce a new iPhone series (iPhone SE series) in the year 2021 that may come with support for 5G services, a 5G chipset but a design that’s identical to the current iPhone SE series.
iPhone SE is known for being one of the most popular models in the overall iPhone series. In the past few years, its design has also improved, with the newer iPhone SE series being waterproof and with size upgrading as well.
According to the report in Apple-Stock by 9 to 5 Mac, the iPhone SE will not have a new exterior design as speculated by many.
The report also mentions that the iPhone SE 3 might have a 5G chipset, but “rather a brand new technical underpinnings that would allow the phones to take advantage of 5G speeds”.
Apple will not increase the performance of iPhone SE 3 in the new generation. Instead, it will retain its 6.1-inch OLED display and create cameras better than the first two generations.
That’s the claim made by the site’s analyst Mark Gurman in the report. The change would be in terms of the design: It will not be getting a redesign in the production process for 2021.
Rumors also say that the iPhone SE 3 series will not be following other phones that are coming after the iPhone 11 series (iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro Max).
It is possible, according to Gurman’s report, that Apple will only update its older designs when a new generation launches.
9to5Mac writer Mark Gurman also states that Apple does not intend to launch the iPhone SE in 2021. “The adoption of 5G in the smartphone market will lead many vendors who built 7.7 inch Android phones, like Samsung and Motorola, to convert to larger screens, and some makers like Nokia who designed screens for 5G phones will also do so.
” These kinds of changes mean that “we think the iPhone SE will be a mainstay of the phone lineup as we go into 2021 and beyond” according to Gurman. However, if the 2021 iPhone SE is a successful 5G device then Apple may come out with an iPhone SE with a smaller display which could be the iPhone SE SE 1.9, and an iPhone SE Lite.
The iPhone SE 3 name seems to be going away after the launches of iPhone 11 series and its successors. This name is now reserved for older iPhones (iPhones 8, 8 Plus, iPhone 10, iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max, iPhone 13).
Apple has not announced an Apple iPhone SE 2 officially but the design has also been speculated for a year already.
