Teasers for iQoo’s upcoming smartphone arrived last month and the company has now set the date for its first device.
The Chinese smartphone maker on Wednesday announced that its next iQoo Z5x smartphone will launch on October 20, 2021. This is an important launch day for China, as it falls ahead of Friday, China’s biggest shopping weekend.
The company has yet to reveal any specifics and we still don’t know if the smartphone will be a smartphone or a smartwatch. iQoo announced that its first iQoo Z5x smartphone will launch in China on October 20, followed by an international launch shortly after.
The launch is also being announced as a rally for China’s rising consumerism, which was one of the main themes of the Communist Party’s recently held rally.
The Chinese smartphone maker didn’t reveal too many details about the device on the event’s page as it is expected to launch in China later in the month. As speculated, the device will come with a 5,000mAh battery and will be price-competitive compared to the company’s main devices.
iQoo Z5x, which will be named as the iQoo Z5x 5G, will have a 6.53-inch full-HD+ AMOLED display. The device is expected to feature a dual rear camera setup as well, comprising of a 12-megapixel primary camera and a 2-megapixel depth sensor.
The device is also expected to feature a 50-megapixel main camera. The device will come with a fingerprint scanner on the backside and will feature a 3,000mAh battery with 10W fast-charging support, 12W fast charging, NFC, and 4G capabilities.
The device will also pack 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, enough for all-day usage.
