OnePlus is expected to soon launch the follow-up to its previous flagship, OnePlus 9RT. The phone will come with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC, a 120Hz display and four cameras on the back.
New leaked specifications have revealed that the flagship phone could launch as early and it may be the only one to launch with the Snapdragon 888 SoC.
The OnePlus is said to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC. This is a $1,300 (roughly Rs 20,200) jump from the OnePlus 9 Lite powered by the Snapdragon 845 SoC that launched earlier this year.
It seems like it will be the only device to come with the Snapdragon 888 SoC (and a first-generation Snapdragon 855 SoC was launched earlier this year) with the new chipset, which is said to be 5.8-percent faster than that of the Snapdragon 845 SoC.
This is surprising as only Huawei had brought its own Snapdragon 855 SoC-powered smartphones.
Xiaomi also took the company’s Snapdragon 865 SoC to power its new Redmi 9 series. The top end Xiaomi Mi 11 series launched with Snapdragon 865 SoC.
According to the leaked specs from @T5FunLeaks, the OnePlus 9 will also have a 90Hz 120Hz OLED display. That makes two display types, L and W-VGA Plus.
This is in addition to the same display style shown on the OnePlus 9 Lite that is 72.94mm wide, 5.9mm tall and 35.8mm deep. A leaked material case for the OnePlus 9 also reveals that the phone could feature the same 6.55-inch “Stunning Liquid AMOLED NanoWaterglass” AMOLED display.
OnePlus OnePlus 9RT
The OnePlus 9RT has been predicted by Evan Blass to feature a “new generation of design”. This has now been confirmed in the leaked materials that the phone’s design would include the same 6.56-inch 120Hz AMOLED Nano Water glass “liquid AMOLED” display. The display is quite substantial according to these speculations.
But by confirming this design, the company must have ensured quality assurance of the display and that the display will be robust to all the demands of a real-world usage.
The phone also appears to feature two cameras on the back. One on the left spine and the other on the top spine.
There will be two lenses on each corner. This is only fair especially as there is a fixed-size lens at the top. Both the rear cameras will feature a telephoto and a standard 20MP lens.
The rear cameras will have the requisite pop-up zoom that we have seen in the OnePlus 9 Lite’s rear camera. In addition, the same 13MP + 10MP + 20MP sensor setup will also be on the OnePlus 9RT. A new camera module mounted below the screen will have a 40MP camera.
OnePlus OnePlus 9RT
From the leaked materials, the OnePlus 9RT appears to have a 5.5mm bezel, a 4,880mAh battery, and Gorilla Glass 5 display. Not much is known about the phone except that it will be an octa-core Snapdragon 888-powered device, feature the same 3.5mm headphone jack, and be backed by a 32W Type-C USB Type-C charger.
The back of the phone will also be made of a transparent glass layer that will help the OnePlus 9R look ultra premium.
The launch of the OnePlus 9RT appears to be confirmed as a high-end budget phone.
Many would be in line to pre-order the phone. But, for the OnePlus 9RT, consumers won’t see the OnePlus logo or play on the back speakers. Similarly, the OnePlus 9RT will be the first OnePlus smartphone to feature an audio speaker array for higher quality audio and a smaller bezel between the display and the sides.
However, the OnePlus 9RT cannot be considered “budget” as the minimum price will remain the same and this doesn’t mean it will come with the Snapdragon 888 SoC.
