The Redmi K50 Pro+ is expected to arrive as an upcoming variant of the Redmi K51 Pro+, but it has just leaked a lot of new specifications. According to known tipster Digital Chat Station, the Redmi K50 Pro+ variant will have the octa-core SoC Snapdragon 898 (so essentially the same SoC as the upcoming Mi 10 Pro+ with the same punch-hole display) and will also have a triple-camera setup on the back.
The tipster also claims the smartphone will have an in-display fingerprint scanner that is 50% larger than the MIUI 12.1 notch, that leaked last week.
An invite to the China launch event has not yet been shared, and it is speculated that the event will take place on December 9, which is the same day as Xiaomi’s press conference in Barcelona to unveil its Mi 10 series smartphones.
If the case is true, the Redmi K50 Pro+ will be the first Xiaomi smartphone to get the Snapdragon 898 SoC and will definitely offer more power and performance. Currently, the only other smartphone with the Exynos 990 SoC found in this range of devices is the OnePlus Nord.
Also, before the global launch of the Redmi K51 Pro+, the smartphone had launched in Italy as an early November sale in some markets.
Recently, Xiaomi also got its smartwatch Mi band in Italy as part of a trial product. The smartwatch is priced at about €119.99, or $124, which puts it in the same market as the international Redmi K51 Pro+. Even so, Xiaomi’s brand has been enjoying high levels of success in the Italian smartwatch market.
However, it is too early to tell if the smartwatch is part of its future products or if the Xiaomi will launch a fitness-monitoring smartwatch or a smartwatch that only focusses on productivity. Last month, the Redmi K51 Pro+ price was announced in India at Rs 11,999 (that’s almost half the Italian price).
